A native of Southeast Asia and the Pacific, this erect, evergreen shrub usually grows 3 to 5 meters tall. Its growth rate is moderate. Leaves are large, fern-like in appearance, or composed of numerous leaflets each of which is deeply serrated. Leaves of the Golden Prince variety change colour from green to golden yellow in exposure to full or partial sun. Otherwise, leave are mainly light green in colour. Flower are large, but not showy occasionally forming clusters. Fruit are small and black at maturity
